Every now and again, fundrawtime posts a sketch and a poem or story to go with it. The poems tend to be heartbreaking, the drawings funny, and there’s a sweet-and-sour quality to the mix. Here’s one I like:
Teddy Bears can be jerks.
He told me I knew him better than anyone.
He wanted to talk to me first when he was scared or extremely happy or sad.
Then one day he was cuddling with me and said, “I can feel this with other people too. This isn’t special.”
My first thoughts were defensive.
Yeah…

I cannot even begin to explain how I felt watching Neil’s speech. The first thing I thought was, ” THOSE PEOPLE ARE SO LUCKY FOR EVEN GETTING TO SEE HIM IN PERSON! ASFKHUbvb!” Then and he went on and on giving advice my weak little heart just couldn’t take it. I couldn’t hold back the tears. And now, I feel strangely… relieved. And I’m whiling to hold on to that feeling. I have to. After months of feeling really painful things I found… hope. In his words. Maybe he will never know but I feel, after hearing his wonderful speech, that I can be someone again. That even after all the many times I’ve screwed up and I’ll screw up in the future I can go on. He’s convinced me so. And MANY people have tried. Neil has given us something really precious with a 20 minute speech and that is why I’m sharing it with you all.
